Just Beachy Pillow Cover

A wonderful project for a beginner, these granny squares can be stitched in any color combination to match your decor!

Materials:
Loops & Threads Impeccable worsted weight acrylic yarn, 1 skein Butterscotch (Michael’s stores exclusive)
Red Heart Super Saver worsted weight acrylic yarn: 1 skein each Turqua, Real Teal, and Spring Green
I-9 crochet hook
Tapestry needle
14″ square pillow

Square (make 2):

With butterscotch, chain 4, sl st in 4th ch to form a ring

Rnd 1:  ch 3, 2 dc, ch 2 (3 dc, ch 2) 3 times.  Sl st in 3rd ch of beg ch 3.

Rnd 2: sl st in next 2 dc, sl st in ch 2 corner sp, ch 3, 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in same sp.  Ch 1, (3 dc in next ch 1 sp, ch 1) around, working 3 dc ch 2 3 dc in ch 2 corner spaces.   Sl st in 3rd ch of beg ch 3, fasten off.

Rnd 3:  with turqua, join with a sl st in any ch 2 corner sp, ch 3.  2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in same sp.  Ch 1, (3 dc in next ch 1 sp, ch 1) around, working 3 dc ch 2 3 dc in ch 2 corner spaces.   Sl st in 3rd ch of beg ch 3.

Rnd 4: repeat round 2

Rnd 5: With Real teal, join with a sl st in any ch 2 corner sp.  ch 3.  2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in same sp.  Ch 1, (3 dc in next ch 1 sp, ch 1) around, working 3 dc ch 2 3 dc in ch 2 corner spaces.   Sl st in 3rd ch of beg ch 3,

Rnd 6-7: repeat round 2, fasten off at end of round 7 only

Rnd 8: with spring green, join with a sl st in any ch 2 corner sp. ch 3.  2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in same sp.  Ch 1, (3 dc in next ch 1 sp, ch 1) around, working 3 dc ch 2 3 dc in ch 2 corner spaces.   Sl st in 3rd ch of beg ch 3,

Rnd 9-10: repeat round 2, fasten off at end of round 10 only

Rnd 11: with butterscotch, join with a sl st in any ch 2 corner sp. ch 3.  2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc in same sp.  Ch 1, (3 dc in next ch 1 sp, ch 1) around, working 3 dc ch 2 3 dc in ch 2 corner spaces.   Sl st in 3rd ch of beg ch 3,  fasten off.

Rnd 12: repeat round 3

Rnd 13:  sl st in next 2 dc, sl st in ch 2 corner sp, ch 1.  Work 3 hdc in same sp and hdc in each dc and ch 1 sp around, working 3 hdc in each ch 2 corner sp.  Fasten off and weave in ends.

With wrong sides facing, join turqua with a sl st in any hdc.  Sl st in each hdc on three sides, insert pillow, finish sl st around, sl st in first sl st, fasten off, weave in ends.
