This recipe is on a little card that has been passing around from cookbook to cookbook for years! I think it was one of my Grandma’s friends but I’m really not sure. The only thing I am sure about is how good it is!! The fact that the first ingredient is 2 sticks of butter pretty much sums it up!

Ingredients
  • 2 sticks butter, softened
  • ½ cup shortening
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 6 large eggs
  • 3 cups cake flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions
  1. Cream the butter and shortening together in a large mixing bowl.
  2. Blend in the the sugar until it is nice and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time until well combined.
  4. In another medium bowl, sift the dry ingredients and whisk together.
  5. Alternate adding the dry ingredients and the milk to the butter mixture.
  6. Stir in the vanilla and pour into a greased bundt or tube pan.
  7. Bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour and 20 minutes. Cool on a wire rack before serving.
